Last year over 275,000 breast augmentation procedures were performed in the United States. One option for this procedure is type of breast implant used. Cohesive gel implants, also known as Gummy Bear, are one option. These were approved last year by the FDA for cosmetic breast enhancement in women who are 22 years of age or older. Gummy Bear implants have some distinct advantages over other types.
More Natural Feel
Saline breast implants are filled with sterile salt water. In women with little natural tissue, the saline breast implants feel like a water balloon. The cohesive gel that fills 500 mg cbd gummies has a density similar to that of natural breast tissue. Thus, those filled with cohesive silicone feel more natural.
Little To No Wrinkling
Implants filled with saline do not hold their shape as well as those filled with cohesive gel. In women with little of their own tissue, saline implants can fold causing a visible wrinkle or rippled appearance of the breast. Gummy bear breast implants are filled with a thicker substance and hold their shape better resulting in little or no visible wrinkling.
The envelope, shell, for both saline and gel implants can rupture. When a saline implant ruptures, the sterile salt water is absorbed by the body and the implant deflates, resulting in a noticeable asymmetry of a women’s chest. If older silicone implants, which are no longer available in the United States, were to rupture, the silicone would leak into the breast tissue causing deformity and pain. Cohesive gel implants do not leak into the breast tissue in the event of a rupture. As gummy bear implant shells can rupture, the FDA recommends MRI imaging of the breasts every three years postoperatively to assess implant integrity.
Decreased Capsular Contracture
When any implant is placed in the body, it becomes surrounded by scar tissue. This is true for all breast implants. This tissue may become thickened and hard, resulting in a capsular contracture. Capsular contractures of the breast can cause pain as well as breast shape distortion. Cohesive gel breast implants have a lower incidence of capsular contracture than older silicone breast implants.
The cohesive gel that fills the gummy bear implant is “form stable.” Since the cohesive gel is firmer than saline or silicone implants gummy bear implants will maintain their shape better than older silicone or saline breast implants.
